Hi my name is Shainah.
This is me without the makeup.
Last night 3 girls and 1 boy verbally abused me.
I was called a circus freak, candle wax face, ugly bitch, deformed girl, “it”, a monster, wierd looking creature and many other hurtful names.
I was born with a bilateral clef lip protruding to my left eye. The umbilicul cord was wrapped around my face in the womb so my face didnt fully develop. I wasnt born with cheek bones because like I said my face didnt develop correctly. They had to take my rib and use it as replacement cheekbones.
My eyes arent perfect either. I had a tumor in the right one.
I wasnt born with any nasal passages. They had to pierce the inside of my nose. For an entire year my mom would have to put tubes down my nose to my lungs so I could breathe.
I’m not telling my story for sympathy or “reblogs” (reblog if you want) My main message is that after having 27 surgeries I am strong and I will not let words hurt me. Don’t be ignorant and make fun of someone whose story you know nothing about.
I’m lucky that I’m alive.
My scars don’t define me. Instead they tell a story. They tell everyone around me, AND remind me each day that I am a survivor and I am a strong woman. Even the strongest of people break down sometimes. Please remember that words hurt. I may be strong but some girls aren’t.
LOVE YOU, SHAINAH!
Yet another example of the hyper-hypocrisy of the GOP. Keep waving that flag, Billy.
I do this every year just for fun. It’s kind of corny, but screw it, I’m not a professional Web Designer.
During the Bush/ Cheney administration the Republicans pretty much got whatever they wanted. Banking regulations were stripped. Safety regs were scaled back or the departments responsible for enforcing those regulations were made impotent. Unions were busted and laws changed to make them matter less. Even after so much changed to favor the so-called “job creators” and after the so-called “barriers to prosperity” were brought crashing down, it all went to shit anyway for the middle-class and poor in America.
Now the Grand Ole’ Party and the Tea Party tell us, with new found religious conviction, the answer to everything bad they created is MORE of the same. Thanks to President Obama and the remaining Democrats complicity and new found role as rubber stamps they are getting it and things are getting worse and their answer is that we need even more of the same.
We have allowed them to screw up so much that, for the first time in the history of mankind, ownership of land has become a bad investment.
What’s as sad as it’s infuriating is to watch the men and women of the ironically corporate concocted grass roots Tea Party proclaim somehow making the rich, richer and more powerful will benefit them. One could almost admire the handiwork of their corporate paid puppet masters ability to transform Jesus into a Capitalist.
We are in a mess and I can’t help but wonder why taxing the very people who have benefitted from the American Dream most is such a bad idea. Tonight during the debates, Reagan was invoked by every candidate and the Reagan years are held up as the standard, yet the rich paid much more in taxes under him than they do presently.
The Right decries the out of control national debt, even though they have consistently been the ones to amass more of that very same debt, yet refuse to go where the money is to pay it down.
The problem is the wealthiest individuals and corporations see investing in our politicians as their own personal stock exchange. We are all bought and sold on the private market of the elite. And, since they buy both sides, we no longer have any say in the deal. It doesn’t really matter anymore, the scales have tipped too far. The middle class will continue to slide down the pit until it can’t be seen or heard any more. The elite will make sure to hold it under until the bubbles stop.
To quote George Carlin, “It’s a big club and you ain’t in it.”
We have a lot of pets.
A lot of rescued cats in particular and they, plus our dog, are our children really. Honestly being a pet here is like winning the lottery. I wish I could be reincarnated as one of our pets, which is in a temporal sense impossible I know, but still you see my point.
Each one is a distinct little personality wrapped up in a cute, furry package. They all have their likes and dislikes and they all have their, little ticks and psychological issues.
My cat, Herbie, is about 2 years old, which in cat years means he’s somewhere around his late teen’s. The impressionable years that’ll determine what kind of cat man he’ll become.
Lately I’ve noticed some disturbing behavior manifesting in him. Around my Beagle he’s really starting to show some negative traits. At first it was small, just him treating her wagging tail like a toy, batting at it with his paws. Now it’s grown to him laying in wait by the back door to pounce on her as she comes in from bathroom time in the back yard.
I fear he’s fallen in with a bad crowd. I think Herbie has turned into a raging, Anti-Canite.
One day he was lying on the keyboard of my laptop and when I checked the history in Explorer I saw he had been to some Anti-Canite websites. When I confronted him about it, he just walked away with his tail swishing side to side, twittering something under his breath.
I brought up the fact in this house we embrace all species regardless of their genus. How we don’t tolerate hate screech in our home. He just laid there licking his paw and rubbing his head. I might as well have been talking to the fish.
If he comes home with his little, cat head shaved, I’ll know for sure. Then I’m afraid it’ll be too late.

I watch footage of global protests and it saddens me that Americans have forgotten what kind of power we have as people to make a change. What happened? Convictions have been traded for consumption....
Yes Harold, I do get that feeling quite often.
“And the clear depths of her dark eye
Were bright with troubled brilliancy,
Yet the lips drooped as with the tear,
Which might oppress, but not appear.
Her curls, with all their sunny glow,
...
